U.S.News & World Report has recognized HF-L as a 2012 Gold Medal School. The District has been previously recognized as aSilver Medal School and Newsweek Magazine has ranked HF-L in the top 1.86% of schools in the nation.
HF-L is one of just 29 school districts in New York State to be named a High Performing/Gap Closing School District for more than five consecutive years, and is one of 10 New York State high schools recognized by the National Center for Educational Achievement as a High Performing School.
Buffalo’s Business First ranks the District #3 overall out of 67 districts in the greater Rochester Region. HF-L received “5 star” status as one of the top performers in EVERY academic subject area with our High School leading the way ranking #4 out of 87 schools. Additionally, HF-L was ranked #6 out of 431 update districts for K-12 performance on state assessment, Regents Exams and advanced diploma achievement. Business First also ranks HF-L #1 in Administrative efficiency and #2 in the greater Rochester Region for its performance on the 2010 NYS Regents exams.
HF-L is a 2007 and 2010 recipient of the New York State Good Sports Award and the New York State Healthy STARS Award, a 2009 recipient of the prestigious national Magna Award for leadership in diversity efforts and a 2011 recipient of theOutstanding Physical Education STARS Program Award.
Lima Primary School is a 2010 honoree of NYSASCD for the Educating the Whole Child for the 21st Century Award.
HF-L is one of 112 school districts in the nation recognized two years in a row by the College Board with a place on its AP® Achievement List for opening AP classroom doors to a significantly broader pool of students, while maintaining or improving the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher.
HF-L was recognized by the American Society for Quality (ASQ) with an Education Team Excellence Recognition Award at thehighest-awarded level of Distinction at the 2011 National Quality Education Conference for the District’s QED Process Improvement Project.
HF-L ranks in the top 2.3% of districts in NYS to achieve thehighest category of rating on return on investment in a study released January 2011 by the Center for American Progress
